Detectives investigating a murder in Mile End have released the name of the victim.. He was Syed Jamanoor Islam (pictured), 20 who lived in Mile End.
Police were called at 16:46hrs on Tuesday, 11 April to Wager Street, E3, to reports of a stabbing. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 20-year-old Syed suffering from stab wounds.
He was taken to an east London hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 17:30 pm. Next of kin have been informed. A post-mortem examination will take place on Thursday, 13 April.
At this early stage it is believed the victim was with friends in Wager Street when he was approached by a group of males. An altercation began and the victim was stabbed. An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday, 12 April and taken into custody at an east London police station.
The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating under Detective Chief Inspector Tony Lynes. DCI Lynes said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at that time and might have seen what happened or who has any information about the circumstances.”
